The promoters for Miss Georgia USofA, Miss Georgia USofA At Large and Miss Georgia USofA Newcomer are Celeste Holmes and Jeremy. They've owned the preliminary since 2006 and have had five successful years at the national level, culminating in the first-ever win for a Miss Georgia USofA at the national pageant -- Stasha Sanchez, Miss Georgia USofA 2009 captured the title of Miss Gay USofA 2009. Georgia USofA is one of the most awarded pageants in the USofA system. We were blessed with a national winner for two years in a row when Dominique Sanchez, representing Georgia USofA, was crowned Miss Gay USofA 2010. Celeste has been an entertainer since 1983, when she began performing at Cafe LMNOP in Lexington, Kentucky. In Lexington, she eventually performed as part of the cast of several nightclubs, including Cafe LMNOP, The Bar Complex, the Circus, and Great Moments. In 1988, Celeste moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Soon thereafter, she became the bar manager for the nationally famous Lipstix showbar (before and after known as Levita's). Lipstix was home to many Miss Gay USofA winners including Netasha Edwards, Cezanne and Sable Chanel. It was also the home of Miss Gay USofA Classic Emeritus Tina Devore. In 1991, Celeste moved to West Virginia, where she met Jeremy. Celeste and Jeremy were founding members of the West Virginia Pride Committee, a statewide celebration each June. As part of the committee, the two began the Miss Pride of West Virginia pageant to celebrate the art form in the Mountain State. During their tenure at WV Pride, the two would produce nearly 30 preliminary and state pageants. In 1999, Celeste was crowned Miss West Virginia All Star and later that year went on to Pittsburgh to capture the title of Miss Tri State All Star. In 2000, Jeremy and Celeste moved to Atlanta and remain there today. Celeste won Miss Kentucky National in 2001 and earned the fourth runner-up spot at the national contest that year, winning Interview overall. In 2002, Celeste earned the title of Miss Georgia Entertainer of the Year. After years of supporting the USofA system as observers and fans, Jeremy and Celeste took a more active role by purchasing the Georgia USofA and Georgia USofA Classic franchises from the USofA system. Their dedication to the art is unmatched in the industry. The very first year, Miss Georgia USofA Myah Monroe and Lisha Paris both made the top 12 at the national pageant in Dallas. The following year, all three of their representatives -- Miss Georgia USofA Natasha Braxton, Stasha Sanchez and Bianca Nicole -- were in the top 12. At the 2006 Miss USofA Classic pageant, Miss Georgia USofA Classic Chelsea Pearl captured the national title in Dallas. In 2007, Scarlett Dailey earned a top 8 spot at the national pageant. In 2008, Stasha Sanchez, representing Georgia USofA, placed 2nd Runner-Up and won Evening Gown overall at the Miss Gay USofA pageant. Both Ashley Kruiz and Bridget Nickles made the top 10 at Miss Gay USofA Classic. In 2009, Miss Georgia USofA Classic Penny Holliday made the top 12 at nationals. And, at Miss Gay USofA, Georgia swept every award --thanks to Coti Collins and Stasha Sanchez-- and was thrilled to see Stasha crowned the new Miss Gay USofA. Georgia's other representative, Teonia Steele, also earned a spot in the top 12. Once again, in 2010, Georgia USofA sent three contestants to the national pageant in Dallas. All three made the top 12, culminating in the crowning of Dominique Sanchez as Miss Gay USofA 2010. Teonia Steele placed fourth runner-up and Dorae Saunders earned 6th place overall. In 2009, Georgia USofA added Miss Georgia USofA at Large to its lineup. Georgia is very proud of Lady Tahjee Iman, who was first runner-up at the 2009 Miss Gay USofA at Large pageant and then went on to capture the title in 2010. In 2010, Georgia USofA also added Miss Georgia USofA Newcomer to its pageants. The Miss Georgia USofA Classic pageant has been placed on hiatus by the pageant system. Jeremy and Celeste are very proud to be promoters in the USofA system and especially to be the owners of Georgia USofA, whose rich history and list of winners are phenomenal. Georgia USofA has always been a powerhouse in the USofA system and Jeremy and Celeste strive to uphold that strong tradition to the best of their abilities.
